The campus administration announced in late July the creation of the Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The office centralizes efforts of diversity initiatives of the campus diversity office with the fair hiring compliance responsibilities of the former Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Office.
The responsibility of the office is split between Ashish Sahni, assistant chancellor and chief-of-staff, and Alison Galloway, vice provost of academic affairs and dean of university extension. Sahni will oversee staff and student issues, while Galloway is responsibility for faculty.
The aim of the office is to develop a climate on campus that is free of bias and harassment and “values diversity, equity and inclusion,” Galloway and Sahni said in campus administrative message.
