Hello everyone,

We would like to inform you that the security of our website, cityonahillpress.com, was compromised early Thursday March 3. The breach occurred when an attacker exploited a previously unknown vulnerability in OpenX Ad Server, the software we use to administer the advertisements on our website.

We are unsure how successful the attacker may have been, but we are erring on the side of caution. We have removed all ads and the ad system until such a time that we can internally certify that a clean version of the software is available.

For those receiving browser errors, the site has been cleaned of all known attack vectors and cleared by Google, but changes may take a while to propagate across all servers. Things should return to normal in a few hours.

We are encouraging those whom visited cityonahillpress.com between 4am and 11:30am to take necessary precautions by scanning their computer for malware. If you don’t currently own anti-virus software, we’d like to offer you some helpful tips:

TrendMicro House Call: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Microsoft Security Essentials: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

This list is not all-encompassing and is not intended to endorse any particular product.

Please note that this attack is known only to have affected the main cityonahillpress.com website. All other systems, including CHP Newsletters, the CHP Jobs & Internships Portal and Disqus comment threads were not attacked; however, they may still yield an error.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email webdev@cityonahillpress.com.
