Protestors came together on Oct. 18 to rally against former U.S. secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano’s appointment as the new president of the University of California.

Napolitano’s presence on campus drew a number of people together in an attempt to voice their opposition. That morning, police officers stood guard in a wing of Kerr Hall as the protesters flooded in and protested loudly.

Later, students reassembled in Quarry Plaza and hung a banner from the Student Organization Advising and Resources (SOAR) building reading “Stop all deportations! Deporter-in-chief.”
