Students were recently informed about a fire that was set early morning yesterday, Jan. 8 near Porter and Kresge.
UC Santa Cruz Police and Fire Departments responded to the flames that blazed between Porter-Kresge Road and Heller Drive. The blaze caused little damage to the surrounding cluster of trees.
This is the latest incident after the series of fires investigated last quarter, each caused by an unidentified individual but each assumed — as of now — to be independent of one another.
A person of interest was described in the community alert as a thin, white adult male with dark hair, dark eyes and a pale complexion. The suspect is approximately 5 feet 11 inches and was seen wearing a dark colored jacket. Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the police department.
